Who is the INFJ-A and that makes them different. The INFJ has two subtypes. The INFJ A and the INFJ-T. Standing for both Assertive and Turbulent.

In this article, we will find out what makes the Assertive INFJ.

Who Is The INFJ-A?

The assertive INFJ is one who is bold and confident in nature. As the name implies, they are assertive and want to be dominant wherever they find themselves. This personality type doesn’t like being controlled and will prefer calling the shots in their own lives.

This doesn’t take away from their introversion, of course but they become a lot more outspoken and outgoing unlike the Turbulent INFJ (INFJ-T).

They are also more likely to be type 3s and type 5s but can be any other number. This doesn’t mean they can’t be any other enneagram type. These are just the most common for them due to their assertive and dominant nature.

Strengths of The INFJ-A

Here are undeniable strengths of the INFJ

1. They Are Confident

Nothing beats having the right confidence in anything you do. This is where the assertive INFJ thrives. They come off as more confident that other INFJs and this is because they believe strongly in themselves and in whatever they do. This also helps with their self esteem.

Everyone loves a confident person or at least admires and respects them. This opens more doors for this personality type.

2. They Are Independent

In thoughts and in actions, the INFJ-A is very independent. They have their own opinions even when it doesn’t align with others. They aren’t people-pleasers and are not afraid to express themselves.

It can make them come off as stubborn but if they believe in something, they will stick by it. This shows how importantly they take their values.

3. More Action Oriented

The INFJ-A believes in taking actions unlike other INFJs who struggle in implementing their ideas and caring out tasks. This is the opposite for the assertive INFJ. They know what they want, strategize and go for it.

This is something that sets them apart from others. Their optimistic nature also helps them with problem solving and staying calm in cases of emergencies. Something the turbulent INFJ will struggle with.

4. They Understand Others

The INFJ-A might not be as people oriented but they know and understand people. They know how to motivate people and are more intuned with their needs. Just like others INFJs, they can be a little self absorbed but to a degree.

They become more aware of people and things around them which helps them create a balance. They might not be the best at listening but they offer more practical solutions.

Weaknesses of The INFJ-A

Here are some weaknesses of the INFJ-A

1. Impulsive By Nature

Unlike the INFJ-T, the INFJ-A will be a lot more impulsive in their actions and decisions. They feel they can’t go wrong and even if they do, they can figure it out somehow. This leads to mistakes and recklessness.

They crave their independence so they barely take advice from anyone else. This is usually a disaster waiting to happen. It is important to find a balance.

2. They Are Stubborn

As hinted above, the INFJ-A is very stubborn with their decision making. Even when they make mistakes, they hardly ever learn from it. In other terms, they struggle with self development. It can take them a while to change a pattern they can see isn’t working.

It can come off as being stubborn and can prevent them from attaining their highest potential. Constantly making mistakes you can avoid is not cute.

3. They Financially Reckless

Generally, the INFJs have a weird relationship with money. It doesn’t exactly motivate them as they do things more for the fun of it. They buy things because of their wants rather than needs. This can be the case with the INFJ-A.

This personality type wants to make unique and expensive purchases. The only thing that can reel them in is having a more grounded enneagram type.

Work For The INFJ-A

It is important to understand the importance of money and how saving can help you in the future. Yes you’re not exactly motivated by it but you don’t want to crash and burn by making reckless purchases.

Being stubborn can lead you to dead ends. There’s nothing wrong with getting some advice from people you know have your back every now and then. Your values aren’t always right.

The INFJ-A and Relationships

If you’re looking to date an INFJ-A or already dating one, this is for you.

  1. It is important to understand that they take their values and boundaries very seriously. Finding out more about it helps to navigate it. If they feel the same about you, it shouldn’t be too much work.
  2. Asking them about things they consider sacred is a great way to know for sure without making assumptions. Understanding all of this makes it all easier.
  3. They value intimacy and quality time over the rest of the love languages but appreciate them all. They like to connect on a deeper level with their partners to know more about them.
  4. Expect some deep conversations and intimacy (with consent of course) to bond with them. Casual conversations don’t always fly.
  5. The INFJ door slam is quite popular for a reason. So when you’re with them, be nice to them and love them truly. They can have a door slam when they feel neglected or less loved.  This makes everything go downhill.

Who Is The INFJ-A Compatible With?

Consenting adults can definitely make a relationship work so anyone can be a love interest for the INFJ-A. However, their natural partners are ENFPs and ENTPs. As assertive people, they will do well with turbulent partners.

So many other factors come into play like enneagram and enneagram subtypes. As long as parties involved in a relationship work on it, they should be fine.

Here are very important things to note about this personality type. What do you think I missed? Let me know in the comments.
