Every personality type has its own strengths and weaknesses. It shows individuals where and when they are at their best and when they are at their worst. What are the strengths and weaknesses of an INTJ?

INTJs are considered strong, independent, confident in themselves and great problem solvers. Their confidence in themselves can come off as pride to others. The INTJ is one who believes in doing the logical thing at all times.

They are introverts who spend a lot of time on their own. INTJs are considered heavily introverted on the introvert scale. They can spend as much time as possible alone. And it doesn’t help that they are over thinkers.

INTJs are fairly private people. They rarely talk about their deep personal life except it’s with very close friends or through a medium which doesn’t seem too much like oversharing.

They rarely ever strike up a conversation about their personal life first. They only do so if the situation permits. Now these are characteristics that sit on the fence. Some people consider it negative and others consider it positive.

The INTJ is also fiercely independent and self sufficient. This is another reason why they spend most of their time alone because they believe their company is the best. They believe that other people wouldn’t just get it.

This makes it increasingly difficult for them to make friends or enter relationships. Therefore, sealing the fact that every strength of an INTJ comes with a price. That price is a weakness to match.

What Are the Qualities of the INTJ Dark Side?

The INTJ dark side is also known as the negative characteristics of the INTJ. Let’s look at the five most important ones you should not miss.

1. They Are Heavily Introverted

It is safe to say no one is as introverted as the INTJ. They avoid any form of external stimulation as much as possible. Even little activities such as going to the store is overly analyzed and draining. They require a recharge time to get over that.

Other introverted personality types enjoy their solitude. However, once in a while, they enjoy the company of others. This is not exactly how it works for the INTJ. They are complex and tend to set boundaries for themselves and others. Sometimes even unconsciously.

INTJs tend to live in their minds so much that they forget that the real world exists. This INTJ dark side can make them lonely from time to time. Yet, they’re reluctant to start a friendship or relationship with anyone.

Another reason they prefer staying in their heads is because they have control of the world there. Everything makes sense which isn’t the same as the real world. Also, not many people understand the INTJ. So, they feel “why bother?”

2. They Can Be Really Oblivious

The average person will categorize an INTJ as cold and dismissive. Female INTJs usually come off as rude and mean. So, it makes it harder to approach them. And even when you do, they tend to scare you away somehow.

Both in friendships and other forms of relationships, the INTJ finds it difficult to completely let their guard down. Their judgemental nature plays a part in the failure of these relationships.

Being friends with an INTJ can seem impossible. They can go a very long time without talking to you. This isn’t because they do not like you. They just get so lost in their world. And when they remember, they feel it’s too disrespectful to reach out.

Although INTJs come off as mean and independent in all forms, they sometimes crave relationships. However, they don’t know how to cultivate them. Eventually, they give up and accept themselves as the only constant relationship they will ever have.

In relationships that come naturally to them, the INTJ thrives. They can make great lovers and friends. They prefer when things are effortless, and free from pressure, overthinking and anxiety.

3. They Can Be Quite the Procrastinators

INTJs are planners. They plan things down to the littlest detail. However, the INTJ dark side of this is that they are procrastinators in a confusing sense. They want something done and done right. But when?

To the INTJs, time is important. If they miss the time for an activity even by a few minutes, they reschedule the entire thing. This is one of the many ways they procrastinate. They do not like structured environments and often get tired of routines.

4. They Can Be Overly Logical

It’s okay to be logical because it helps you make better decisions. However, with the INTJ, they do everything with logic. They believe that there has to be a reason for everything even when there probably isn’t.

The INTJ has to use their brains or they can’t see the point in any of it. And again, the use of logic is great but when it is used to be overly analytical, it can pose a challenge.

As thinkers, they have feelings too but never let it take the front seat. Sometimes feelings can help in making decisions and being more empathetic. This is something an INTJ lacks.

They over analyze their feelings to know why they feel a certain way and why they shouldn’t. With the INTJ, everything is carefully analyzed and this can be draining to them too.

5. They Can Be Quite Distrustful

Another INTJ dark side is how distrustful and doubtful they can be. They have a lot of trust issues, which can be attributed to the fact that they are overly analytical. This is another reason why they do not have a lot of failed relationships.

Trying to prove an INTJ wrong is almost impossible. They will defend their opinions till their last breath. This is because they believe they can never be wrong or just completely hate being wrong.

Why is this? The INTJ spends a lot of time researching and looking for answers to different random problems. And sometimes they defend what they feel is right even when it’s wrong.

INTJs might be open to learning but they usually always believe they know. This is why you never want to argue with one. No matter how it goes, you will always feel like you lost.

Conclusion

The INTJ dark side are negative aspects of the INTJ which can be limiting. So which of these can you identify?
