Introverted sensors are introverts who have a high functioning SI (introverted sensing). This basically translates to their cognitive functions and although it is well known, it isn’t always understood by a lot of people.
The common generalization of introverted sensors are their need to follow tradition to a fault and hold on to their beliefs however blindly but how true is this? If you’re familiar with your Myers-Briggs type indicator (MBTI), the introverted sensors are the ISFJ, ISTP, ISFP and ISTJ.
What Exactly Is the Introverted Sensing?
Just like the introverted intuition, it is the method of perceiving and processing information. The specialty of the SI function is that it lets individuals observe their environment and can tell when something is off. Their judgements are usually based of their own personal experiences than not. This can lead them to be quite skeptical about generalizations that do not apply to them.
Signs of An Introverted Sensor
Here are undeniable signs you are an Introverted sensor and your SI function Is more dominant and primary,
1. They Appreciate Routines
If routines help you plan your day and you can’t function without one, this could be you. Introverted sensors want to work with a schedule as it makes them feel more in control of their lives. Every minute and casual activities need to be planned. Although they share this with some intuitive introverts, they function primarily on this.
2. They Appreciate Real World Application
Unlike the Intuitive introverts who spend a lot of time in their heads thinking about abstract things, the introverted sensor is the opposite. When it comes to theoretical possibilities, they’d rather take the back seat. They very much appreciate talking about things that are applicable and not some fantasy that doesn’t have a concrete practical application.
3. They Compare and Contrast A Little Too Much
The introverted sensor will compare and contrast when they notice the slightest of chances in their environment and people in their lives. They can pick up when people are acting differently or when a sharp change has occurred. They pick up things that can easily be missed by others.
4. They Rarely Repeat Their Mistakes
It can be quite rare for these personality types to repeat their mistakes as they quickly learn from It. They detest making the same mistake twice and would take their former mistakes as a teaching moment. Although repeating mistakes can be normal and they can fall into it sometimes, they try to avoid It.
5. They Enjoy an Order
Just like routines, they enjoy things being done in an order. They went to be able to tell what’s next and would very much appreciate a more systematic flow of things. If this is you, chances are your SI function is the dominate one.
6. They Deal on Facts and Not “Fiction”
Theoretical, artistic and inspirational motivations aren’t the right tick for this cognitive function. They like to deal on facts and not theories. This is one reason people consider them to be stiff in their beliefs.
